Description
Medusa was a daughter of a Gorgon but she was also mortal. She was said to have a hideous face and snakes for hair. The people who gazed upon her turn to stone. She was eventually defeated by Perseus the cut off her head. Even though her head was detached from her body Perseus use it as a weapon to turn people to stone. Later on he gave it to the goddess Athena where she placed it on her shield. A beautiful classical Greek piece. Mounted on a pole with a base, makes a terrific display.
